Spanish In El Camino de Santiago

As you now, Santiago de Compostela is the final destination of El Camino de Santiago, a thousand-year-old pilgrimage route leading to Santiago across Europe. There are many different routes, and the most popular one is the Camino Francés (French Way), that goes from the Pyrenees to Santiago de Compostela. Our route, covering the final stretch of this Camino Francés, is divided into 6 stages. In each of them we will discover the different landscapes of the green Galicia in North-west Spain, from the mountains to the valleys; the religious architecture which has been flourishing along El Camino for 1200 years; the little stone-and-slate villages; the traditions and hospitality of Galician country folk; the gastronomy…

All along the way our teacher–guide will give us explanations and itinerant seminars about different topics related to El Camino and to the traditions, culture and way of life in Galicia. Some of these seminars are: “The origins of the worship to Santiago”,  “The burial of the Apostle in Compostela”, “Monastic hospitality in El Camino”, “Pilgrims to Compostela along the years”, “Reasons for the pilgrimage to Santiago in the Middle Ages and at present”, “The constrution of El Camino”, “Galician wines and spirits”, “Economy and farming activities in inland Galicia”…

For accommodation, we stay each night in a casa rural. These are traditional stone buildings of different kinds (farm houses, country manor houses, pazos…), newly restored and turned into charming family-run hotels, where you can enjoy Galician countryside and taste our superb gastronomy.

Just tell us how big your group is and we will send you a detailed program and a quote!  info@ifspanish.com
