BENIDORM - THE PILGRIMAGE to Santiago de Compostela can now officially be done starting from Benidorm which has become the starting point of the Southeastern route. This route was long ago used by the medieval pilgrims who lived in Alicante Province but had lost its popularity in recent years.
The Friends of the Santiago Walk Association in Alicante have been campaigning for years to get this part of the route reinstated. The walk will begin from San Jaime and Santa Ana church. A plaque with the typical conch has been placed on the façade of the building to serve as a point of reference for pilgrims.
A further 17 plaques have been installed to show the route through the town before heading off to Finestrat, Orcheta, Relleu, La Torre Manzana, Ibi, Onil, Biar and Villena where they will then join the south east route, which actually starts at the Santa Maria basilica in Alicante.
The route to Santiago de Compostela is 1,140 kilometres long and pilgrims can get their official credentials stamped at certain points along the route. The route is set to open on May 15.

Científicos de la universidad de Rochester han descubierto un sistema para que un líquido desafíe a la gravedad y fluya hacia arriba a través de una superficie de silíceo. Detalles de este curioso descubrimiento tras el salto.
Usando ráfagas cortas de láser, los científicos han conseguido este movimiento tallando patrones imperceptibles en una lámina de silicio lo que genera que las moléculas de agua suban sin necesidad de una acción externa.
Aunque parezca una tontería este fenómeno tiene gran utilidad, una que nos afectaría directamente en nuestro quehacer diario con los ordenadores es que sería el inicio de nuevos sistemas de refrigeración más eficientes y efectivos.

Who needs turntables when you have cardboard? GGRP Sound has come up with a brilliant way to play records: with the record sleeve. The needle-embedded carboard package folds up to hold a 45rpm in place, making sound while you spin it with a pencil. Instead of outputting to a speaker, the vibrations go through the needle and into the cardboard, and the sound quality is not bad, from what we've heard anyway.

Have you ever gone completely gaga over a waterbottle? I did! I was given a Bobble and am loving it. What’s so cool about it? It has a built in water filter! So when you’re on the go you can just keep filling up your Bobble with regular tab water. No need to buy bottled water. Yay, right?
I have come across similar bottles before, but they were an offense to my aesthetics. Bobble looks fabulous! Its design is minimal, stylish and they come in a rainbow of colors. Bobble will be my new favorite gift!

Many anti-smoking ads in the past are rather gruesome with rotten body parts that terrified people. Those messages are straight forward in showing the final consequences if continue to smoke. Tradukka es un proyecto de Andres Santos que en tan solo tres meses de funcionamiento ha conseguido 2 millones de usuarios únicos al mes principalmente de los países Brasil, Portugal e Israel. Se trata de un traductor en tiempo real en el que según vamos escribiendo en un idioma podemos ir viendo el texto traducido al otro. El modelo de negocio se basa actualmente en publicidad que es mayoritariamente de traductores de pago y están preparando una versión de pago con funciones de valor añadido para los usuarios.
Tradukka utiliza el API del traductor de Google y en palabras de su creador ofrece las siguientes ventajas sobre el propio Google lo que hace que sea elegido por un gran número de usuarios: es un .com directo, a diferencia de Google Translate o Yahoo! Babelfish que muchas veces hay que buscarlos por su nombre para ir a la herramienta; facilita escoger un idioma base de la interfaz in situ y esa configuración queda grabada en el ordenador del usuario; interfaz gráfica amplia y limpia; usabilidad fluida que hace que practicamente no requiere uso del ratón; envio de traducciones por email o a redes sociales; y opcion de compartir traducciones mediante links con bit.ly
